3. What volunteer time commitments are required of HERO members?

The parent or guardian is responsible for three volunteer hours for every one-hour semester class that their student is registered for.  However, there is a "buyout" option available for the cost of $18 for every one-hour semester class, with a maximum of 24 hours or $432 per family per semester.  All of the class hours from a family will be added up to determine the total volunteer hours required of that family.  Block classes, such as 3-hour preschool, kindergarten, etc. are considered 3-hour classes.

Click here for volunteer task descriptions.

4. What are the financial responsibilities of HERO members?

A $50 fee per student at the time of registration.  This fee covers facility rentals, insurance, photocopy costs, equipment, office supplies, and other support related costs. This is a one time per school year cost.

All classes offered have class fees associated with them.  These fees are collected by HERO and distributed to the teachers, who are independent contractors for the organization.

Some classes may have additional costs to cover supplies.  These classes are not limited to science and art classes. Many of the classes have additional charges due to the volume of photocopies this class requries.

5. Is HERO affiliated with any denomination?

No.  HERO is a non-denominational 501(c)3 organization.  HERO is not a ministry of Crossroads Covenant Church.  We do not endorse any specific denomination.  We do however practice Biblical Christian principles and conduct during meetings, class time, and activities offered by HERO.  Christian teachings are also incorporated into the fabric of most of the classes offered by HERO.  Families of all religions and denominations are welcome, as long as they are willing to operate within these stated parameters.
