Due to seating arrangement requirements, HERO members need to arrive at all theatre and orchestra events 30 minutes in advance or they may have to forfeit their ticket.  all other field trips, HERO members need to arrive 15 minutes early or they may not be able to attend the event.  Also note that there will be no refunds offered if you cancel your field trip reservation. You are required to pay for  the field trips when you sign up for them.  Field trip folders are located by the Welcome Desk at each of the HERO locations.

6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Open House in the Activity Building at the HERO Forest Lake site. This is the time to meet the teachers, ask questions, register for classes, sign up for your volunteer hours, and purchase your textbooks. 

Parent Orientation meeting with Jayne Wahlberg, Administrator of HERO will be held at 6:30 PM.  There will be music workshop by our music teachers to introduce parents to the HERO music program.  

The Teachers will be available to meet/talk/look at their class syllabus from 6:00 - 8:00 PM in the gymnasium.

THIS IS THE FINAL DATE TO TURN IN YOUR REGISTRATION FORMS FOR FIRST SEMESTER CLASSES FOR THE 2010-2011 SCHOOL YEAR.  ALL REGISTRATIONS RECEIVED AFTER THIS DATE WITH HAVE A "LATE FEE" ADDED TO THEIR INVOICE FOR EACH CLASS THAT THEY ARE REGISTERING FOR

Monday,        September 13 Classes begin at HERO. We have two 16 week semesters.  First semester ends on  January 18, 2011.  Second semester begins on Monday, January 24, 2011.

Jayne Wahlberg, Administrator of HERO,  will host a seminar on, "Homeschoolimg 101 - Questions/Answers  Regarding Home Schooling Your Children."  This seminar will be held from 9:30-10:30 AM in the Main Church building, lower level, in the lunch room.

This is the last day to make any changes to your child's first semester schedule.  There are no refunds for classes that are dropped after August 24.

MHA Home School Convention at New Brighton Family Service, 400  10th Street NW, New Brighton, (located off I-35W and 694).  You can register on line by going to their website at: mha@homeschoolers.org  HERO will have a table at the conference.  Jayne Wahlberg, Administrator, will be hosting a workshop at the conference.

School pictures with Life Touch Photography - 9:30 to 2 PM.   There is no cost to get your school picture taken.  All students who get their picture taken will receive a FREE photo school ID card and get their picture in the HERO yearbook.  Picture packages are also available for purchase.

Thursday,      November 18      7:30 PM Class of 2011 Graduation planning meeting for HERO seniors and their parents.  We will be making preparations for the HERO graduation which will be held at Crossroads Covenant Church in Forest Lake on Wednesday, May 25, 2011.    This is the first of three planning meetings throughout the school year.  It is important that both the senior and one of their parents attend the meetings. The meeting place is yet to be determined. There is a graduation form on the HERO website that all seniors need to fill out and return to Jayne Wahlberg, Administrator of HERO.

HERO is giving the PLAN (10th grade) and the EXPLORE (8th and 9th grade) exams.  Check in is 8:30-8:50 AM.  The test will begin at 9:00 AM.  Non-HERO members are invited to register for the test.  Cost: $20 per exam. The exams will be giving in the lower level of the Main Church Building at Crossroads Covenant Church, Forest Lake.  There are a limited number of tests available. Students need to bring a bottle of water, a snack, and a calculator. The test will be done at 12:00 noon.

Class of 2010 graduation practice in the Sanctuary at Crossroads from 5-6 PM.  It is mandatory that all seniors and at least one parent attend the graduation practice.

HERO New and Used Curriculum Fair at Crossroads from 10-2 PM.  There will be Peabody testing available for HERO members.  You need to arrange a testing time for your child by contacting Kim Jaworski at: kdjaworski@usfamily.net

HERO graduation ceremony for the Class of 2011 in the Sanctuary at the Forest Lake site, Crossroads Covenant Church.  Seniors and parents need to arrive between 5-5:30 for pictures and to set up their individual graduation display table. The graduation ceremony begins at 7:00 PM.
